About Me

I'm diotrans. I have a lot of different creative interests. A lot. Another way to describe me might be "crazy," or perhaps "unfocused," or to put it in a more positive way, "over-inspired."

I have struggled with my lack of focus for a long time. If I could just pick something and stick with it, by now I might have finished an album, or mastered beyond level 1 in some style of dance. But even within a medium, I find myself easily distracted by new ideas that are completely unrelated to the projects I'm already in the middle of. For instance, in music: a techno remix here, a string quartet composition there. A month when I'm obsessed with mastering Beethoven's Sonata Pathetiqué on the piano, or Suede's "The Chemistry Between Us" on electric guitar. Meanwhile, I watch other artists build upon skills and accomplishments in their chosen area of expertise, gaining mastery, while accumulating and displaying the finished works to prove it.

My current method for dealing with my over-inspiration is to just accept that this is the way I am. Let my inspiration lead me wherever it goes, even if it just means finding more and more things to become mediocre at. I may never finish an entire novel or be able to draw the comics I envision. But at least I'm doing what I want to do. I guess.
